About the Remake

After taking a much-needed break for the sake of my mental health, I now feel better and ready to continue working on the game.

First, I want to clarify a few things that people seem to be confused about:

  1. The game was never in early access. I don’t know where that idea came from because it was never mentioned.

  2. Likewise, the first version was never a demo. It was a complete game that received several updates.

  3. Free content was never promised. The fact that it was free was purely my decision, but I never promised it would always be free.

  4. The only thing I ever promised (in my ignorance, because you have to remember that I’m just one person who uploaded a game to the internet for fun, I never expected it to become so popular, and this whole process has been completely new to me. I’m learning as I go, and of course, I can make mistakes because I’m human, after all), the only thing I promised was to give Steam keys to everyone and, more recently, the refunds. But as I’ve already explained, the situation got out of my control, and I wasn’t able to fulfill those promises. I have apologized many times for that, and I kindly ask you to move on from this situation. There is nothing I can do about it at this point.

Now, I want to make it clear that I am very disappointed in the attitude of many of you who shamelessly call yourselves “supporters” when all you care about is consuming a product and demanding more. If your true intention had been to support my game, it shouldn’t bother you so much to pay a little money for it. Remember that you paid for a game more than a year ago at most, you paid for that product, and you’ve been playing it all this time. No one paid for updates or future projects, because once again, it was never a demo nor was it in early access.

That being said, my intention has always been to somehow compensate everyone who bought the first game here. There are two major reasons why the first game is no longer available for purchase here:

  1. Since the remake has the same name, it could be confusing for new players, and I didn’t want someone intending to buy the remake to accidentally purchase this version instead.

  2. Since anyone who bought the game here has and will have access to all the files I’ve published and will publish here, I didn’t want new people to have access to the content I was planning to upload. This way, not only does the first version of the game become exclusive to the first buyers, but I can also be sure that anything I upload will only be accessible to those initial buyers.

The Steam version will NOT be available for Mac, so I have decided to start creating a new version of the game to publish here, which will be available for Mac and other platforms as well. Please understand that this version will not have some of the features included in the Steam version, as that version relies on Steam’s own functionalities for those features. So, if you want access to those features and you’re a Windows or Linux user, you will need to purchase the Steam version.

Also, this new version it won't be compatible to the first game, because as I mentioned a hundred times, it is another game, it is not an update.

Once I publish that version, consider the game finished.

I sincerely thank everyone who has truly supported my work and has been understanding of my mistakes throughout this process.

Thank you.

We are grateful for all you have done!! You're allowed to make mistakes, you're allowed to not be in control, and you're allowed to block/ignore those who threaten your peace!! Can't wait to play the second version as well, keep doing what makes you happy!! <3

Now that i just realized I'm able to comment here on my laptop, I was just sitting here thinking about you and hoping you were feeling alright, and I come across you talking about how you feel better AND are planning to work on the game more! Very wonderful to see! When you make a game that ends up turning out to be a masterpiece, more attention comes in, and there's ALWAYS risk of, from ANYTHING being posted online really, something negative coming from it. That's just how life is, i suppose! Happens to people that are pure and deserve the world, but such is the internet. And mistakes? Yep, we all make them. Different flavors and strengths of backlash comes from it to. Regardless though you're talented and very kind, and even if you still didn't want to continue on this series, that also wouldn't have bothered me as the games on their own right now are 10/10! I daresay 20/10 for the community the game has brought together! People bonding and becoming friends over your creation is in my opinion one of the best things! You've given us something to enjoy and BOY do we enjoy it! Where I post, we were absolutely infuriated at how some people were talking to you XD

ANYWAY UH sorry for rambling, you're just a fantastic creator and I had to get any kind of good words across to you in any way I could. This site is the only place I've seen you as far as I'm concerned so I guess everyone else here has to witness all this- If you actually do have any social media accounts you can correct me! I kind of wanted to eventually draw something for you as a thank you for your great game <3

Sorry for the long message and I hope it's not too awkward, I just had the urge to tell you how I felt about the game and your mental health and feel like you really can't go wrong with positive messages. Also wish I had the money to buy literally everything else you've made or will make. I love indie devs. They're the best to support. May good vibes continue to flood your way! We are here to support!!

Thank you so much for explaining. I understand it's challenging to make the remake for MacBook users. I have no doubt it will be amazing, and I can't wait to play it when it comes out. <3

I never left a comment before, but... I just want to say, that I gladly pay for games I enjoy. So I payed for your game. Twice. Because its worth it. Take the time you need but dont let these fuckers who are whining about 3 $ take away your pleasure in making games <3

Hello!  I haven't sent a msg yet, but after reading your msg, I'm taking a moment.  I'm really sorry you had to go through this also.  That "Internet" can be so rude...  I want to thank you for all those hours I've spent playing at your very original game!  For 3$, with all the updates we got since, for me, it's truely amazing!  It would had been only the first 1.0 version with only a chapter that I wouldn't complain at all.  I just want to wish you all the best on your next projects and, of course, I'll check it out for sure!  Take care Nacho. ❤️

(+4)

I love your game so much sorry it's been a hassle 💕💕💕

(+3)

I’m so sorry you had to go through this! For me as a newer player, money well spent for the Steam version. You should definitely charge even more in my opinion. Especially online, you can’t please everyone, so just do what you truly want to do and move on. I might say you are an inspiration for other indie game devs, including me. Thank you.

NachoSama, first of all, i want to say thank you very much for taking a break and deciding to coming back. I'm really, really glad that you're feeling better now and even decided to continue TNMN again.

During your break, i truly can't believe that i've dealt with so many people that tried to harass and accuse you because of your mistakes even though you already stated that your mistakes are accidental and apologized for many times, i just can't believe the whole backlash situation that happened in the past few weeks. The situation really shows those who only cares about their own money and not about your work. I really can't believe that some of them even called themselves "fans" when they're literally insulting you and your game after you did some mistakes for the first time. A real fan would NEVER try to bring down the developer of their favorite game, a real fan would understand your mistakes, give some actual constructive criticisms, and keep supporting your work, no matter what. The whole TNMN fans outside this website were also really disappointed when i brought the whole heartbreaking situation and they were all really hoping that you're going to be fine.

Now that you finally came back, i'm really grateful because you're now doing fine and feeling better. I'm also really grateful that you even decided to continue TNMN again. You can always take a break again if you really need it and don't push yourself too far because we all care about your well-being, so please take your time as much as you need to fix everything again.

I'm also really glad the situation is getting better now, so i want to thank everyone who tried to defend Nachosama as well in the past few days. If you understand his mistakes and really care about his well-being, then you deserve to be called as a real fan, so thank you very much everyone who managed to turn the situation getting better! ❤♠️

Once again, thank you very much Nachosama and everyone who are still supporting him, i also wanted to apologize if i did some mistakes in my words. I hope that TNMN and other Nachosama's work will always be successful. Best of luck and i hope you all have a really nice day or night! ✨

Bought the original, bought the Steam version. I cannot even begin to understand why there are people that feel they are owed anything in this situation or are evening being so negative. You made a great game, keep at it and I can't wait for what you come up with next!

Keep that mental healthy, fuck the idiots out there.

Just wanted to share some support!

Dude, so fucking sorry that you're having to deal with this.  It's $3 dollars...if you can't afford that, then maybe it's time to go outside.

The fact that they always said "no matter the amount of money, we paid for the original version, why would we have to buy again when you already promised free updates" as their argument and whining because he couldn't fulfill his promises really shows they only wanted free stuff from Nachosama and not to support his hard work. I genuinely can't believe those fake fans actually exist in here. TNMN doesn't need those losers who already tried to bring him down. I'm really glad that the situation is getting better now after he came back and it's honestly such a big change for people to start understanding his mistakes and defending him now. ❤

I'm not a stranger (😉) to buying games I like for different systems/providers, and most of those cost a good bit more than both releases of "That's Not My Neighbor" combined!

I never expected a refund for the itch.io game, or a steam key for the Steam version, even though that's a sweet thing to have tried to make happen for the players on itch.io, it's totally reasonable and understandable why you couldn't make that happen. I remember reading about how stressed you were when the Steam version release came out because Steam only allowed a very limited number of keys to be given out, if at all.

I'm glad the game has blown up in popularity, and your success is exciting especially for those of us that want to see you create more things that you want, but even still you won't be able to please everyone, there would always be people that are mad about your decisions, so just try to make decisions that you feel good about and try to ignore the negativity. <3

(1 edit) (+2)

I greatly enjoyed the game and bought it both here and on steam. I think you did a great job on it and don't worry about what others think there's always those who will always want more than what they should get

You pay more for a coffee at Starbucks stop crying about it

(+5)

this game is worth spending money on to me.

I like the version here and the steam version and I would never as a small game creator for a refund for something like this.

(+7)

Please note that internet commenters are usually overly representative of negative opinions, given most of us are likely silently content (general rule of thumb). I purchased the game both here and on  Steam and have been happy to do so to support an individual creator. It's rough out there!

(+3)

Hope you're feeling better now!

I think we all know who is to blame here...Thinknoodles. Kidding. I will support and buy this game for Windows each time it is released. Instant klassic!

(-20)

Honestly as someone who has to brace themselves for parental retaliation every time they spend even 99 cents on a game, I genuinely feel scammed. Good for all the people in the comments who aren't in financially abusive situations who can pay for the same game twice, but not all of us are so lucky. I'm not entitled for wanting the game I paid for, and to suggest that shows you don't care about us. Good luck, I don't know how the rest of the commenters still trust you.

"Now, I want to make it clear that I am very disappointed in the attitude of many of you who shamelessly call yourselves “supporters” when all you care about is consuming a product and demanding more." If this doesn't apply to you, then they're not calling you entitled. The fact that they apologized to everyone multiple times and attempted to make up for it is already proof that the creator cares. I'm sorry to hear about your financial and familial issues, but you shouldn't be mad at an honest mistake like this. The reason this situation is an issue for you isn't because of the price, but because of the consequences of buying this game within your own personal life. You can do whatever you want, but the problem here isn't the creator, it's your parents. They might be responsible for you having to pay twice instead of once, but they're not responsible for the severity of this action within YOUR home. Other people find this forgivable because to them, 3 dollars isn't a lot. If it were 30 dollars for example, it might be the same for them. You're the exception, not the rule.

So much this!!

Considering the Steam release is an entirely different game, and you have the itch.io version, you got the game you paid for.

It's unfortunate If you're in a situation where such little money causes so much issue, but even still I couldn't see being comfortable asking to revoke the financial support you've already given just so you can have what you want, especially considering now the itch.io version is going to be a collectors copy now that it's unavailable for purchase.

It's natural to feel disappointed because they originally promised that the Steam version would be available to those who purchased the itch.io version, but the game blew up in popularity and refunding everyone who purchased, or giving free steam keys, just isn't something we should expect from a Dev, especially if you actually enjoy their works and want them to make more games or projects in the future.

Your terrible situation of not having financial freedom isn't because of the dev, this is a low cost to have access to a new experience, you should be upset with your home situation, not the creatives you claim you wanted to support.

(+3)

Yeah sorry buddy, you are right.

ALso I'm not playing on Mac but I think it will start to get confusing. Like there will be the original one, the steam one and the Mac one. All have the same name, but are not totally the same game. I really think you should add a subtitle to each version

(+1)

This Mac version will be almost exactly the same as the one on steam, but without some features because of the steam integration that it can only be use on steam.

(1 edit) (+2)

For anyone that doesn't know about making your game available on Mac. Pirate Software explains it with the almight windows paint.

Also, glad to see your're back buddy. I knew you would. Show us what you can do!
