The difference is that the remake has a different build. So the UI is different and so is the mechanics. It's got some quality of life improvements from the itcho version, but play similarly.
It is mostly the same game though. Nothing has been really redesigned enough to call it a new game compared to an update. It's still 95% the same art assets. It's slightly more simplified than the itch.io version mechanically aswell (Which is fine).
Personally I prefer the itch.io version. The steam version has a lot of things removed that I personally liked about the itch.io version. Minus the custom gamemode it hasn't really "added" anymore to the game. The quality of life stuff is nice though.
Hola. yo si deseo mi rembolso para adquirirlo en steam! aqui esta la prueba de la fecha de cundo lo compre, seguramente puede salir reflejado en el sistema
Hi! I would really appreciate a refund for the game just to send it back for the steam version please. I really like the series and progress of this game and I would love to see what you've done in 2.0.4!!
I'm gonna say this again if people still gonna ask for a refund and accuse Nachosama for wanting money only and not because he wants to share his own game.
It's honestly really wild and disappointing that most of people here are always complaining about "having to buy twice" and "he broke his promises" as their strongest argument when the game has always been just $3. Nachosama didn't raise the price of the original game, didn't upcharge for the remake, and he admitted his mistakes, apologized for many times after he couldn't promised the Steam Key and Itch.io refund, yet, people really backlashed him so much to the point they destroyed his passion for TNMN and his other future work.
"But it's still their money, no matter the amount, he forced people to buy twice!" So, are you guys gonna ignoring the amount of effort he put into TNMN as well? He made the game ENTIRELY by himself, he made the game from scratch, concept art, UI/UX, coding, prototype, final artwork, and everything that involves game development. As a college student and artist, i know it's really HARD to do all of that ALONE, Nachosama managed to success with TNMN because he was really motivated to create such a unique game entirely by himself, and he still charged the game in such incredibly low prices than most indie devs would. Not to mention that his game got really popular, he could've raise the price for the remake if he wants to but NOPE, Nachosama didn't want you to pay in a higher price because he GENUINELY wanted to SHARE his own game, NOT scamming you out of fortune.
People also forgot the fact that devs NEED TO PROTECT THEIR GAME FROM PIRACY. Nachosama stated that his game has been STOLEN multiple times and people made profit off of it which it is absolute CRIME & DISRESPECTFUL TO DEVELOPERS. It's also one of most valid reason for him to move his own game to Steam because Steam has stronger security than Itch.io, but some people fail to realize this and ignore this copyrights problem. Nacho didn't mind it at first, but seeing how some of you backlash him because he decided to remake and expand the game to Steam, you immediately throw the "YOU'RE SO ARROGANT FOR 'FORCING' US TO BUY TWICE!!!" and calling him "greedy" while the real ones who are being greedy here are the people who only cares about their own MONEY & FREE STUFF from his game.
So the point of my comment? Just GIVE HIM A BREAK. Respect every of his decision, understand what he already stated instead of asking the same thing that is already explained by him for many times. It's NO USE if you keep harassing him because now he already discouraged from continuing TNMN and his other work. He also probably got really traumatized after all of the backlash that was happening in here. Some of you just decided to disrespect him in any unhinged way possible when he was already falling down, that's honestly such a pathetic move and you should be ashamed of yourself for disrespecting him this much.
If you're still disagree with me? Then it's your choice! It's your choice if you want to downvote my comment as well. I fight against those who insulted Nachosama because i got FREAKING DISAPPOINTED TO SEE MY FAVORITE DEV BEING DISRESPECTED THIS MUCH. This just proves Nacho that most of people here are just fake fans who only care about their own money and not his work once he couldn't fulfill his promises while the "sane" TNMN fans out there are way more reasonable with their constructive criticisms after he released the remake in Steam.
Thank you if you read this and i hope you have a ✨nice day or night!!!✨ 😊👍👍👍
If Nachosama truly wanted to share his game, he could’ve easily updated the Itch.io version instead of removing it from future updates. Moving to Steam for better security makes sense, but it’s also easy to pirate the Steam version, so piracy isn't a solid reason for not updating Itch.io. Games like Buckshot Roulette updated both versions, proving it's possible to support both platforms.
The developer went back and forth between saying "I truly wish I could give it to everyone for free" and "It's a new build, so I deserve it to be repurchased." His inconsistent stance only adds to the backlash. He broke several promises, and instead of updating the Itch.io version, something that could've easily been done, he told everyone he’d offer refunds, only to realize he couldn’t issue refunds after 90 days. I’m not blaming him for that, but it shows that lack of research led to these issues. It’s frustrating that with such a simple solution, he chose not to take it, especially when some games on Itch.io thrive despite piracy being "easier." This doesn’t seem like a valid reason to avoid updating Itch.io.
If he was truly willing to offer every single person a refund, then the whole piracy argument becomes irrelevant. If he’s offering refunds, it shows he's not concerned about people getting the game for free, which undermines the claim that piracy was the reason for moving to Steam. It makes sense that if he's willing to provide refunds, he could have simply updated the Itch.io version without worrying about piracy.
I think if he had a more consistent stance there’d be less backlash. Even if that stance from the start had been "This is a new game. If you want it, you need to pay for it again," it still would have gotten some backlash, considering buyers were told they’d get future updates for free. But I feel the backlash would have been less.
Oh, haha, i've noticed that you're still not backing down, i see. How fascinating! But since it seems like you're always talking about Nachosama's inconsistency, how about you go take a mirror first and take a look back at your previous comment compared to what you've been talking recently, then we can talk about it further if you still can explain what you actually really wanted! 🥸
What? My inconsistencies I mentioned are still perfectly valid? I'm talking about his inconsistencies throughout the development stages.
He claimed free indefinite updates of the game. September 28, 2024: “If you bought the game once, you won’t need to buy it again. You will always have access to all future updates.” and May 21, 2024: “Remember that if you already bought the game, you DO NOT need to purchase it again. The game is bought once, and you will always have access to all future files I upload.” To then "re-release" the game and call it a different game.
He claimed he wanted to give free Steam keys. Said he cannot give free Steam keys because he was limited to 100 Steam keys (which is perfectly reasonable if it's valid). However, if he was set on giving Steam keys for free, that means he had the intention of giving the Steam update for free. If that was the case, he could have achieved this goal by simply updating the itch.io version.
He then, in replies, started saying, "I just made another game, the game on itch was finished long ago," making it clear he never planned to give the Steam version for free. His own words in the screenshot confirm this.
He promised free refunds and then said he can't because of the 90-day limit (again, this is completely fair. He should have really done research before this. With all the backlash, you’d think he’d do extensive research before making any promises he might not be able to keep).
The game being "finished on itch.io" doesn't mean he couldn't simply release a separate downloadable file that was the Steam version if he again claimed he wanted to give the Steam version away for free for original backers.
He clearly was working on the Steam version for a while. Why not tell everyone, "Ok, guys. This itch.io version is done! I am making a Steam version of the game that is a remake. That remake will not be given to itch.io users because it is a new version of the game"? This may have gotten a tiny bit of backlash. However, nowhere near the backlash he got with all these hiccups. At the end of the day, a fanbase wants to feel like there is honesty and communication between them and the developer. When a new Steam game is released and then told, "You guys aren't getting it because it's a separate game" (and yes, this is basically what he's saying because again he'd just add the files on itch.io for original backers), it's going to leave a sour taste in people's mouths. That’s just how it is. Even more so when fans are expecting updates to the game because they haven’t been informed it is finished. Again, if he was working on the Steam version, he could, in the latest update to the itch.io version, just tell the fans that there will be no more updates to the game because he's remaking it for Steam with new features.
He is a solo developer, so I’m not putting him in the same leagues as a greedy corporate company. However, to say you will give indefinite free updates, then give the game a facelift for a Steam release and claim it's a new game isn’t exactly keeping to that narrative.
A part of development of the game can be re-working it from the ground up. That's very common in the gaming industry, from small indie games (like Risk of Rain (Remastered), Spelunky (HD), and Fez) to triple-A games. That doesn't warrant a re-purchase of the game when updates were promised for free and no prior warning was made to say the itch.io version of the game was complete.
Oh wow, you really dropped a thesis-length reply this time, but that's absolutely okay and i honestly appreciate that! Now, i'm gonna write my long argument as well to point out your missing points.
First of all, you were already inconsistent with what you've said. You said to the dev like "You clearly don't want to release the Steam version on Itch.io" while that's technically an unfeasible thing to do. Why? Because both version are built on different frameworks, and i already told you why it is impossible to do. Despite some of the art assets may look the same, the mechanics and coding were entirely redone from scratch to fit Steam's requirement. The whole remake is build for Steam version, it's not really like you simply drag and drop the files and BOOM- "TNMN remake is finished within just a few hours and i can put this in Itch.Io as well!"
• "He claimed free indefinite updates of the game. To then "re-release" the game and call it a different game." Nachosama literally stated multiple times that the Itch.io version is already FINISHED. He stated "free indefinite updates" for Itch version, the Steam is another version. TNMN Itch.io version have 3 FREE updates after the og game released, they're Nightmare, Endless, and Campaign Mode. The game ended on Campaign Mode and he decided to remake and expand the game to Steam because he wants to TRY something new and to reach out more people as well. The remake is NOT an update to Itch.io version but most people still failing so hard to understand this. People still complaining about his mistakes and decisions while no developer can predict the future perfectly. He delivered multiple free updates as promised, but as a solo dev, he eventually had to decide how to continue sustainably (and trying to avoid piracy as well). People who treated his mistakes like a "betrayal" really shows that they're ignoring how indie development works. It's his own decision with his OWN game, so plans can change, no matter what.
• "However, if he was set on giving Steam keys for free, that means he had the intention of giving the Steam update for free." No, that's not how game development works buddy. Remake is not always something you can get for free, he still worked hard for that and deserve to get paid. You kept saying it's "Steam update" while in reality that it's a rebuild version. It's also a Steam policy if he can only give 100 keys, not completely his fault, and he already apologized for many times that he didn't aware of that restrictions. It's not up to him how many keys he can give because Steam keys are limited by Valve, not by Nachosama himself.
• "Just tell the fans that there will be no more updates to the game because he's remaking it for Steam with new features." The game itself literally SHOWS that the whole game is already finished, if Nacho still really need to explain it that much, then they're clearly ignoring the progress of the development. I'm gonna explain this through the images below this text.
After reading the whole text, i can conclude that you're just trying to paint Nachosama as dishonest, even when the facts prove otherwise. He's an indie dev who tried to figure things out and worked alone for his game, but people just never understand the struggle of game development and problems that indie devs need to face. He could've update and improve the game more if people here were a bit nicer, but instead of giving constructive criticisms, they didn't even give him a break and decided to backlash him with entitled complaints, who act like they're owed free content forever, which is why he eventually discouraged from continuing TNMN and his other future work.
I'm actually still curious if you're still trying to find another reasons as a counter to justify your arguments. I'm honestly really fascinated that you even wrote a longer text this time, but that doesn't change the fact that all of my arguments are still better and reasonable because i already managed to bring down those who also tried to bring Nachosama down when he was already falling down. I don't even mind if i have to write a really long thesis just to point out your missing points again, because my whole intention was good from the start, trying to defend a developer who's been struggling after all of the backlash and insults he's been facing when he literally didn't deserve all of that disrespect. So go ahead if you still have another argument, i'm still really interested with what you're going to reply this time! 😀👍
Brother you win. You can bend over to dishonest developers. I give up trying to explain anything to you. Nothing can penetrate your undying love for nacho.
The piracy scare needs to stop. Plenty of games get pirated, and they still do well. Maybe because 90% of gamers aren't thieves, and it insults us to make this kind of insinuation.
Edit: And also, not knocking on the guy's hard work, but calling this a "unique" game is a stretch. This is basically a Papers, Please clone. lol
"Plenty of games get pirated, and they still do well." Bro's acting like piracy isn't a big deal while Nachosama literally an indie dev who struggles and deserve to get paid for his hard work alone. Piracy might not kill AAA studios, but for a solo dev, every sale counts.
"90% of gamers aren't thieves" says WHO?? Did i ever assume that "90% of gamers are thieves for pirating his game"??? That's why he said "multiple times", not everyone, because there are people who actually stole his game and made a profit off of it. The Itch.io version also has raw files that makes it easier for people who want to get it for free while Steam makes it harder because it has stronger security and protection.
"This is basically a Papers, Please clone." Laziest take i've always seen. Just because a game has similar mechanic, doesn't mean it's completely a clone. They both still have different concept, art style, and story. Papers Please is more about politics, ethics, and survival while TNMN is more about paranoia, horror, and deception based from the doppelgangers situation.
Go make some actual better argument if you want to use it as a counter instead of trying to sound smart, you're just gonna embarrass yourself even more if you're still trying to make this kind of argument again. 🥸
Well to be fair I do feel the itch.io version is better. If it was still available i would tell people to either buy both or specifically buy the itch.io version if they only wanted to buy one.
"you paid for that not for the new version" no dickweed you marketed it as an updated game, not taking responsibility for any of your actions but its clear to everyone that you just wanted to keep people's money. I hope it was worth the money grab!
"Not taking responsibility for any of your actions" is such a wild word LMAO. 😭🙏
Don't worry gusy, IF you don't agree with this dude, i already obliterated them with my bomb of texts the moment they tried to challenge me to shut up in my previous comment. This just proves that they don't actually care the situations and want to harrass Nachosama only. You're not getting away with this when you literally just harrassed both me and the dev dawg. Here, have a pic of this cat again to make your day a bit better! 😺👍
If you bought the game more than 90 days ago you can't. If you purchased it recently, you're still out of luck I think since he's pretty much been bullied to not care anymore.
Instead of giving everyone refunds. The more logical response would have just to been to update the itch.io version no? That way he can essentially give everyone the new game without having to dish out refunds or receive hate? Odd decision making on his part.
The whole situation with the remake is very upsetting.. I'm really sorry NachoSama
I appreciate all the work you put in the game and I'll forever be grateful to you for making a wish come true, it's a masterpiece. I play it every now and then and even more than once a day, I stream it to my friends as we share jokes and laughs as we play together and share laughs because we made silly custom neighbors.
I hope you know that a lot of us are thankful, that we appreciate and admire you.
I'm sorry this is all happening to you Samabro. I know it sucks reading all the comments, but I hope that stress doesn't make you ignore the fact that you made a mistake and that doesn't make you a bad person as much as the people try to make you out as over $3. If I knew this was going to happen, I would of spent more than the $20 I sent you for the itcho version. You deserve compassion and praise for your time spent. Don't give up on me buddy, I better see more from you. I know you got more to show.
I don't think dudes a horrible person and definitely is just someone who made a mistake, but from what I know money isn't the issue, atleast for me. The issue I'm having is that ive already paid for a game that is now not gonna be updated and added to that there is a remake that the creator previously promised to be allowed to people "free of charge" to people who had already bought the game when released to steam.
In my mind of course people are gonna be upset but honestly not a reason people should use to decide to target nachosama. Things happened how they did and just because nachosamas words now don't align with what they've said in the past doesn't mean they should be subject to hate. Plans change so people need to grow up and accept that the steam version is a different game and if they want it they're gonna have to buy it
Couldn't of said it better myself. Had he looked into his promises and whether he could actually do them or not, it would be a different story. Honestly it could just be people who got into the hype and didn't like the game so now they're trying to get their money back 2 years later and the game free. Scummy, but who knows.
My only issue is he clearly wanted to stand by the "I wish i could give it for free but i can't" narrative. To then promise a free refund (we'll ignore that he didn't realize he can't after 90 days) makes no sense to me. Why not just update the itch.io files. Then everyone is happy no? We all get an updated version and people who do want it on steam or are new can choose between steam or itch.io. It just doesn't really make much sense to me the decision making skills. The only "legit" reason not to have it on itch.io is worrying about piracy. People pirate steam games as well though and plenty of developers have success on itch.io.
I also don't think he's a horrible person. Just that he's making the wrong decision at every turn. Not doing actual research before making statements and overall being a bit too wishy washy with his responses.
Honestly if he outright said "Itch.io people do not get the steam version for free. It's a new game. You have to buy it again" and just left it at that. I feel like they'd be less backlash than what he's getting now.
If you need to ignore context to make your argument make sense, your argument isn't a good argument. He even removed the payment option for the itcho option, but was still bullied because people go crazy for greed to get someone's hard work for free. Theres nothing simple about updating the itchio, because it's a different game, its not a drag and drop. Brother made two mistakes trying to please his fans, but was met with nothing but hate and backlash and honestly the most valid reason to give "wishy washy" responses to the disrespect.
I think you don't understand the process of how the game got updates on itch.io? Every-time the game was "updated" on itch.io the whole game was re-uploaded as a whole new packed .exe launch file. There would be no difference in uploading to itch.io then the steam version. That's literally how he was "updating" the game in the first place. So yes it is quite literally "that simple".
Edit: it's fine if you want to defend him. You are entitled to thinking he did nothing wrong. However it should be understood that updating the game for itch.io is quite literally just uploading the files to itch.io. Like there is no extra process involved.
It's not a drag and drop. They are both differently coded, differently made. Dragging and dropping it would not work, because they are both different games. He can't update it, because he wont, its because you literally cant.
Y'all, if you're not gonna understand Nachosama's mistake and just keep asking for a refund without even reading the latest announcement in Development log first, i will not hesitate to send bomb of texts on you if you just keep yapping about it /srs
I can smell who and where those downvotes come from. How fascinating! But it's your choice after all, so i don't mind if i need to receive hundreds of them as well, go on!
I would like my money back because if it was a full game, it would not have had the "coming soon" on the different game modes, I am interested in paying for the version on steam with my $3 back but it is not fair that I bought the game and it wasn't fully released and now I'm expected to pay for another "full" version
They are man. You can defend it as much as you want. 90% of the assets used in the steam version are re-used from the itch.io. If not more. The game play is pretty much identical with simply the main differences being that you do certain actions in different places. Like asking questions. The biggest "game play" change is the ability to not let them in.
I get that you're passionate about defending the game. However plenty of games get face lifts during development. In fact it's quite literally one of the biggest stepping stones to developing a game. Sometimes you re-work art, mechanics, UI. That's just development. To say that warrants the title of being called a "brand new game" is insulting to any game developer who offers free update that actually reworks things for their game. Heck i'm a game-developer. I've worked in indie companies where our early version of the game looks and plays nothing like later versions of the game. We didn't charge people again for our game though.
I personally don't agree, but to each their own opinion. Thank you for not just bashing my opinion like most of the comments here. Taking the last of us remake for example. Same game, had to buy it again. They overhauled the graphics and mechanics, but the story stayed the same. The remake for that's not my neighbor did the same thing. Overhauled the mechanics, added some new ones, a new game category to remake the entire apartment with custom tenants. I'd call it a remake and not a update.
I purchased it as a gift from someone else, and I know it's probably non-refundable, but I'd appreciate it if you could gift me the game. This is my email 3399785659@qq.com. If necessary, I will attach a screenshot of the purchase
Im not paying 2 times because the creator decided that an update is now a remake and the "original" game was already finished. I think that's not how remakes work, if you decide to continue your "finished" game i think you should've just updated it, this move is very arrogant from the creator. A "That's not my neighbor 2" would've been less obvious than this tbh.
After some research, there are still some things wrong. I guess there will be a reason of why you cannot keep updating the game here, so i'll skip that, but still the problem that you still have the excuse of not asking us for more money for updating it. I think that never happened with other game, when they feel like we got a lot of things, you just put it more expensive for new ppl or maybe like I said you can call it a 2nd part, idk. I guess also not being able to continue the game and starting it all over again disapointed some others ._.
Other thing that you shouldn't do again is doing promises that you are not sure you can really make, like the refunds. And I don't want a refund lol, I payed for it because I wanted to play it and enjoy it. Just keep it!
Well since idk you so much i guess i'll believe you and think you're actually a good person and buy it again when i have the opportunity :P but don't discontinue it again and release it later on any other platform lol
Yeah pretty much. What makes no sense to me is claiming he would give a free steam key but can't. If that was the case. Why not just update the itch.io version. It's contradictory. Makes no sense other than he wants people to buy it twice. There isn't really any reason he can't just update it here. You just upload the game files to be able to be downloaded. The only "valid" reason is he thinks people will spread the game around for free? But they could do that with the original version aswell.
Dawg, are you just trying to ignore the situation that it was clearly accidental because Nacho didn't do research before he promised the Steam key and refund? He KNOWS his mistakes and he apologized, but i feel like, i saw you keep blaming him because he can't put the Steam version on here as well. Here are the reasons that will make it clear EVEN if you're still not gonna accept his mistakes.
1. The remake was specifically made for Steam. It was his decision. Both Itch.io and Steam have different systems. Porting it back to Itch.io isn't as simple as dragging and dropping files, it requires a LOT of process, adjustments, coding, testing, and extra work to make it function properly.
2. The remake isn't just an update. People misunderstood this and keep acting like the remake is just a patch to the itch.io version when in reality, it is a separate build and the UI even looks different. If it were just an update, Nacho WOULD'VE done that in here from the start. He clearly wanted to EXPAND the game since he wants to try something new and adapt his game to another new platform.
3. The free Steam key situation wasn't really his fault. This is the problem that most people mentioned. I know it's his mistake, but this wasn't a deliberate decision to "force people to buy it again", it was a mistake caused by misunderstanding Steam's policies but people just keep blaming him for that way too much.
4. People spreading the game for free is the issue that is MOST concerning. Nacho already mentioned that people have STOLEN his game and upload it elsewhere. If he put the remake on Itch.io as well, it would make it EASIER for people to grab the files and distribute them illegally while Steam have way stronger protection. Most people fail to realize that this is the actual crime. Nacho actually didn't mind it at first, but you people think he's the one who needs to be blamed so much here is just NOT okay and i don't really get the logic.
I hope you actually read this but if you don't, then i just assume that you will never understand the real situation that is going on right now. Most of my friends who are "real" TNMN fans in another social medias are with me, so i honestly don't care if i'm gonna receive downvotes and hates here, i tried to remind people and defend Nachosama because WE didn't expect people here are literally so messed up and no wonder if Nacho decide to stop developing TNMN or making other games, some of you can't even give him a break when this is literally his mistakes for the first time, some of you just pushed him WAY. TOO. MUCH. Congrats for destroying an indie dev's passion and TNMN development, i'm so disappointed with you people! 👏👏👏
did you read what I said? If he cannot give a free steam key why not just update the itch.io version. It has the same effect. You wrote so much yet ignored what I wrote????
Dang bro, can you seriously not handle reading comprehesion? How many times do i have to tell you that IT'S HIS DECISION TO EXPAND HIS OWN GAME TO STEAM??? You're literally the one who IGNORED my whole points, especially the 3rd and 4th one, ignoring the fact that IT WAS AN ACCIDENT AND HE APOLOGIZED. He also moved the game to Steam clearly because Itch.io doesn't have stronger security like Steam does since people have STOLEN his game for multiple times. Imagine if you make a game ENTIRELY by yourself then people started stealing it and making a profit off of it, would you accept that??? No you wouldn't, you know it's an absolute crime and disrespectful to developers, devs need to protect their game from piracy, but some people unfortunately FAIL to realize it and ignore this problem.
And also, that's the only argument you've got? No wonder i saw you're one of the people trying so hard to bring Nachosama down with weak excuses. Keep denying the facts all you want, but at this point, you're just embarrassing yourself. I'm not gonna stop sending bomb of texts on you until you fully understand the whole of my points.
He's just rage baiting at this point brother. You said clear as day why he can't just drag and drop it. He looked at that wall of text and said "I aint reading all that" and assumed you didn't talk about it.
You seem upset. My point still stands though? Regardless to how invested you want to be. The developer made it out he REALLY wanted to give away the steam keys for free. If he claimed that the steam version from the start was enough of an improvement that it warrants a re-purchase than that's fine.
If he did want to give it out for free but couldn't due to steam issues. Then nothing was stopping him from simply updating the itch.io version tot he latest version. I'm not quite sure where you're failing to realize the contradiction the developer is having with his statements.
I'll repeat once again for you. He claimed he wants to give for free. He continued to remove any future updates for the itch.io version and not give it for free on itch.io. You can't claim you want to give it for free and than...not give it for free. Yes he can't do it on steam but he can do it on itch.io.
Hello, I bought this game over a year ago. I enjoyed watching how other people played it, and I wanted to buy it myself. If I think about it, I couldn't do it because in my country, it's simply impossible to make a transaction directly using any of the available services. But I liked it so much that I found intermediaries from another country to do it and pay for the original game instead of looking for a stolen copy.
It wouldn't have occurred to me to request a refund, especially after so much time. It was fun to play, and I have good memories of it. Recently, I saw a video of people playing the updated version and logged into my account here to check if the update had been released.
It's great that the game is now going to be on Steam, which will be much more convenient for me, and I would be happy to buy another copy there.
I have been playing this games for awhile and when i saw Kubz Scouts played these games i thought it was an update until i checked it and its actually a whole another game on steam. Personally i liked the new game but somehow i prefer the old setup much more. But i definitely won't asked for a refund just for a 4 dollar game that i bought because the creator remake the game on steam. But I definitely would buy the remake and kept the old version still.. I hope the creator of this game is doing well and i hope you put out more interesting game like TNMN. Sending love.
Its three f*cking dollars, ppl. That's literally less than the price of a big mac. Suck it up. If you're actually concerned about such a genuinely small amount of money, you shouldn't be spending it in the first place.
It's not the money bruh it's the feeling of paying for a game that will be discontinued in less than a year and released on another platform as a """"""""""remake"""""""""" just because the creator wants money. It's the fact that now because the creator now says that yeah you bought the game some time ago, but haha guess what, you're not getting more updates, now buy it on steam haha. Why? Why would I buy it on Steam if maybe next year you're discontinuing it and releasing it on Epic Games maybe? That's not the right way to earn money dude
It is a remake. Its a different build. The itcho version uses a different version of Godot. The Steam version is a different version. Look at the local files if you don't believe me. It even plays different. They are separate builds.
No its not about the god damn money its about this game being marketed as an updated version and then not being an updated version. This waste of space of a creator just wants extra cash thats all they're good for anyways.
Game was not marketed as anything you just said. It was marketed as a remake. and it is a remake. if he wanted extra cash he wouldn't of discounted it for $3, a favor he didn't have to do.
Y'all, i went back to this page because i miss the moment when i bought this game for the first time last year ago, but i can't believe the situation that's happening in this page right now.
I totally get it if you're disappointed with the remake version and wanted a refund because you bought twice, i get it if you're disappointed because nachosama didn't do much research before he promised the Steam keys and itch.io refund rules, but do you have to be this harsh toward him? Do you have to point out his mistakes that much? I honestly don't get that kind of behavior. When nachosama updated the itch.io version till the Campaign Mode, he didn't ask you to pay more, but when he wants to expand the game to Steam and the remake didn't went out as much as you expected, you decide to backlash him this much because you don't want to spend your money for it. He literally made the game himself alone and some of you literally treating him like a big company that's scamming you.
I get it if you don't want to lose your money and wanted a refund even when nacho already stated that he couldn't, but trying to point out his mistakes and putting him down will NOT going to make the situation any better, it will only discourage him to continue TNMN and i freaking don't want that to happen because this game literally have so much potential, he's literally an indie dev, developing the game alone. If you're truly a real fan, you will understand his mistake, remind him and give constructive criticisms so he will do better next time. Give him a break.
Nachosama, if you read this, please IGNORE the rude comments and keep doing what you love, continue working on TNMN if you want to. As a huge fan, i REALLY love your game, i don't want to see it being abandoned because of this situation, i understand your mistake and i hope you will be more careful next time. Wish you all the best and take a long break if you need it, take your time! ❤️♠️
Thank you so much for your nice comment, but I am afraid it is too late, as you mentioned I am discourage not only for working on TNMN but on any other future game, at least for public projects.
Since I released the first TNMN game, the most common feeling I had was stress. I thought that I just make a little fun project as my other games and it was done, but since it took me a long time to make I want to try earn something from it and decided to ask for a little amount of money, I never thought that my game will be as popular as it is now, it was very overwhelming and then people just started to asking for more and more and more, but it doesn't seems to be never enough and after all the free work I made and all the new work I did for the remake so people don't feel like they are buying the same thing, people just came here and demands more with the excuse of having supported the project and for that reason I owe it to them, like if had the game for like a year with free updates wasn´t enough, or like if buying a product because their favorite content creator play it was support a project, 90% of the people who bought the game did it because they want it, not because they want to support my work.
I was just a dude who wanted to share his work.
I don't want to deal with this again, people don't care about my work, there are even people that has been stealing my game to publish it elsewhere, people only care about money and free stuff. I am so disappointed, I am sorry for the people who genually cares about my work, but this is too much for me.
I'm really sorry to hear what you've been going through, if you want to take a break from all of this situation, then it is absolutely okay, it is very understandable for the sake of your well-being. Some people can be really mean sometimes and they didn't even think twice before giving out their comments. Just please don't push yourself and you don't have to tell them the same thing if they keep complaining the same thing, they just can't read and understand what you've stated, your well-being is what really matter to us, the real fans will still be with you no matter what, so don't let all of the hates get to you. Best of luck and i hope that you can recover from all of this! ❤🤞
Why should he name it to TNMN 2? He decided to remake the game because he wants to TRY something new, expand his game for another platform so his game will reach out more people than just releasing it on itch.io. It will be sounds more like a sequel rather than a remake if he needs to add the "2" like that while he already stated that the remake is still going to be similar to the original but with new features and lore. I know that the remake is not really enough yet, it lacks some lore and og features from itch.io version, but i believe if people didn't backlash him that much, he will be more motivated to improve the game based on the constructive criticisms. Remaking and adapting the game to another new platform still needs a LOT of effort after all even if you think it isn't enough, so i think it's pretty fair if he wants to charge the game again since he doesn't ask for extra everytime he updated the itch.io version to Campaign Mode and i literally wouldn't mind to pay again if he also decide to update the game in here and charge it more.
I'm sorry for all the rude, disrespectful, and harassing comments that you have been getting recently. From what I have read, I understand that you promised a Steam Key for those who bought the original content so that they didn't have to purchase the game again. However, I also understand that this was a misunderstanding of Steam's policies AND that you apologized for your mistake. While I understand why people are upset, there is no reason to fight and gripe with you about it.
Destroying a person's passion for making and sharing their games is beyond cruel.
I highly doubt that they will understand that though, as they are more concerned about the X amount of money that they paid is "going to waste." It is not like you were asking for a lot, just a few dollars to support the project. But some people are treating you like a large game studio that asked for x10 the amount of money, then made empty promises about a new update or sequel that turned out to be the exact same game in a new package. That is not what happened.
You stated explicitly that the steam version was not an update. You apologized for an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding the policies. You're even charging the same price for the game instead of up-charging it!
Some people enjoy being cruel to others, and sadly you became a target of that. And as you stated yourself, the majority of people who bought the game purchased it because they wanted it, not because they wanted to support you. Many of us understand that what has already been said cannot be undone. There will still be ignorant people that treat you like a farm for new game content, rather than a person.
Your community, the ones that realize that you are a person; the ones that respect and value your work, can only hope that you do not stop making games altogether. We understand if you need a break too. This situation would be hard on anyone. Hopefully it will all die down sooner rather than later.
I am a Chinese player and this game is also very popular in China. Thank you for updating the Chinese version. There is a novelist in China whose fans are always obsessed with the first book he wrote. In order to please their fans and make money, he keeps updating it and eventually earns a lot of money. However, the content updated afterwards is very repetitive and boring. I think earning money and self-expression may be contradictory.
I agree with you on almost everything, but even without blaming Nacho for what happened, the fact remains that I spent x money and now I am forced to spend it again if I want to play the same game that I already own but on another platform, which can also be okay if we want, because we are talking about another client, I understand, BUT from now on, I personally will NEVER spend another cent on Itch.io (the real culprit here) and therefore for any other game developer on this platform since sooner or later I will find it on steam, and I don't think this plays in favor of small indie developers
So, you're basically saying that you don't want to buy games on itch.io anymore because it might ended up on Steam as well? It's fine i guess, it's your choice after all and i'm not going to argue with that.
But, i'm just here to remind people that Nachosama started making TNMN as a small dev here and he didn't expect that it becomes viral so he expanded the game for Steam because he wants to try something new. Once the remake dropped, people started complaining because itch.io users wanted it without having to buy twice (and it's bc of free Steam key he promised) while he already stated so many times that he can't do that and both are different version, remake is not an update from itch.io version.
And also, imo, IF they truly support the dev's hardwork, i don't think they have to be so afraid to spend their money as long as the dev just trying his best with his game. As a huge fan, i've been saving my money if the dev decide to charge the game more, but the fact that he didn't ask for more money when itch.io was updated from Nightmare till Campaign Mode is already more than enough for me and i was really grateful that Nacho still decided to remake the game, until all of the backlash started happening in here. 💔
I genuinely hope people will just understand his mistake because it's truly heartbreaking to see this situation. I hope he's okay, all of my friends even hope that he can recover. For once again, thank you Nachosama, we really appreciate your hard work and we wish you the best! 🙏❤
Since you're clearly responding to every f*cking possible person with even a hint of criticism just take this as a sign to shut up once and for all. This game creator wants money and nothing else all they had to do was update the game into the remake on here and there wouldn't have been a problem. Just because you like a game/game dev doesn't automatically make them a good person. Saying you're a huge fan doesn't get people's money back and YES people are complaining about 3 dollars because no matter the amount of money it is, it's still their money that they wasted because of a scummy f*cked up developer who wanted a quick grab at some cash. Stop fooling yourself into thinking that everyone's a good person because there are literally so many fixes for this issue that the creator decided to not do. The remake is nothing but the original game with a few addons. So let that be known. Maybe take your mouth out of his pants for just a second so you can use your brain properly and realize what's going on. Happy spending.
"Maybe take your mouth out of his pants for just a second" yo, what the fu- OKAY. First of all, that's clearly a HARRASMENT & GROSS. Second of all, are you literally throwing all of this so you can shut my mouth??? No, LMFAO, NO ONE CAN SHUT MY MOUTH 🔥🔥🔥
I'm standing up for Nachosama and a lot of "real" TNMN fans outside this page because he clearly NEEDS it. People literally didn't give him A BREAK to improve the game because a lot of people TOO focused to the Steam key and refund situation, and yet, what's your point in this argument now? All i see is harrassment rather than a counter. "It's still their money that they wasted because of scummy f*cked up developer who wanted to a quick grab at some cash" SO??? ARE YOU SAYING THAT THEY PAID $3 FOR NOTHING??? Everytime Nacho updated his Itch.io game, HE. DID. IT. FOR. FREE. but, you're saying that like he literally stole your money and gave you nothing??? Holy damn 💔 Nachosama also wanted to move his game to Steam because CLEARLY THAT PEOPLE STOLE HIS GAME MULTIPLE TIMES, he wants to avoid PIRACY and Steam has STRONGER security than Itch.io, that's why he ended up expanding the game to Steam as well because he wants to TRY something new, and if you still going to argue with that point??? Then you clearly just don't have a basic knowledge about copyrights at this point and i honestly feel so bad if you don't even have that LMAO. 💔💔💔
Also, it seems like, you're trying to shut me up with the same "bomb of texts" energy but you FAILED. MISERABLY. You only dare to harrass me and swearing in here because lots of people here are also disagree with Nacho. That's such a coward move honestly, you don't even dare to say all of this in another social medias and TNMN fans out there because you know that people will literally gonna ratio'ed you so bad, maybe even worse than what you're trying to say here.
So the point of my argument? GO👏TOUCH👏SOME👏GRASS👏IF👏YOU👏CAN'T👏EVEN👏GIVE👏PROPER👏ARGUMENT👏AND👏ACT👏MATURE👏FOR👏ONCE👏
Stay mad and have a ✨NICE DAY!!!✨ i hope you at least read my bomb of texts even though i doubt that you can understand or even read it, LMAO 😀✌
unfortunately they falsely advertised twice. they deserve the criticism in this case. it sucks that it isn't entirely their fault, but they still did wrong.
Of course that he deserve some criticism here since he did some mistakes and admitted it, but the problem is, people literally pushed him TOO much, they didn't give him a break, that's not just right. If you want to give him criticisms, then do it in a constructive way, not just pointing out his mistakes while he couldn't really control it anymore, not to mention that some people even insulted the remake so bad, imagine having to face all of that both from Steam and Itch.io when he already worked so hard and hoping that his game would be popular again, knowing that only to be ended up in such horrible situation like this. I can't imagine the problems this dude have to endure during all of this negativity, i hope he really take a break from this.
They don't deserve THIS much criticism though. His promises weren't empty, they were ill educated. He has apologized and done all he could, but that still makes people lose their minds some how.
Before you write an unnecessary comment asking for a refund read the last post on the development log above the comment section to see why is not possible.

refund, please or a steam key
Did you read the posts Nacho put up about steam keys and refunds?
hey what all are the differences between the old Itch.io version and the steam version and is it worth it to buy both
The difference is that the remake has a different build.
The quality of life stuff is nice though.
hi, can i have my steam key?
thanks
he can't give more than 100 steam keys
damn i have this game and i can't have the new version:(
Its only $3. He brought the price down so that we could buy it after figuring out he can only give out 100 keys.
Oh he's not updating the itch.io version? That's weird. Why not just update itch.io so he didn't have to worry about steam keys.
yeah the two games have the exact same price so really no big deal
Hola. yo si deseo mi rembolso para adquirirlo en steam! aqui esta la prueba de la fecha de cundo lo compre, seguramente puede salir reflejado en el sistema
If the itch version ever comes back, I would love to buy it and be a proud owner of both versions and show support if possible
Hi! I would really appreciate a refund for the game just to send it back for the steam version please. I really like the series and progress of this game and I would love to see what you've done in 2.0.4!!
when did you buy the game on itch?
im want a refund to buy it on steam
when did you buy the game on itch?
is the steam versions also available for Mac? because I bought this version for Mac and also wanted to play the Remake on Mac.
Thank you very much for those important words!
hi! Im requesting for a refund so i can get the steam version.
when did you buy the game on itch?
do not buy this game
Do not let yourself be easily swayed and actually do some research and realize you're just following the bandwagon
Well to be fair I do feel the itch.io version is better. If it was still available i would tell people to either buy both or specifically buy the itch.io version if they only wanted to buy one.
Guys, remember that some games charge $10 just for DLCs.
They'd probably pay so much more too depending on the developer, but raise a stink over $3
yeah
Where can I get the MacOS version?! it's not available on Steam, or i.e. when it will be available?
How do you pronounce Sverchzt? My 5 year old is dying to know as he is learning to read.
"you paid for that not for the new version" no dickweed you marketed it as an updated game, not taking responsibility for any of your actions but its clear to everyone that you just wanted to keep people's money. I hope it was worth the money grab!
The creator said he wanted to show his games, not to make money. Please don't harass the developer for this
"Not taking responsibility for any of your actions" is such a wild word LMAO.
No where has he said that, you're pulling words from your butthole. Would love to see some proof, but I know you know that I know you're full of it.
You're right in saying updates were promised with original purchase. However think it's a but harsh to go so hard on him.
hi im want a refund to buy it on steam
If you bought the game more than 90 days ago you can't. If you purchased it recently, you're still out of luck I think since he's pretty much been bullied to not care anymore.
Instead of giving everyone refunds. The more logical response would have just to been to update the itch.io version no? That way he can essentially give everyone the new game without having to dish out refunds or receive hate? Odd decision making on his part.
They're two separate games, there is no "simply" updating it.
Hi, I would like to have a refund and plan to buy it on Steam
Hi, i would like a refund. I was made to understand that this game would be updated regularly, and i plan on buying it on steam. Thanks!
Hi, I would like a refund for the game. I plan on buying it on Steam. Thank you.
If you bought it 90 days ago, you won't be able to get a refund.
Aw okay. Thank you for messaging back.
Sorry broski. Yeah, of course.
I would like my money back because if it was a full game, it would not have had the "coming soon" on the different game modes, I am interested in paying for the version on steam with my $3 back but it is not fair that I bought the game and it wasn't fully released and now I'm expected to pay for another "full" version
That is the full game. The steam game is a different game. Different UI, Different mechanics. They are separate games. They are not the same.
It's simply not enough to be called a new game.
When will the game be available again?
I doubt itll come up any time soon. You can thank the people in the comments for that.
I've got both versions of your game its really fun but i only need one version refund please
The creator says he just wants to show their ability to make games as it is really hard, not to make money
Game was not marketed as anything you just said. It was marketed as a remake. and it is a remake. if he wanted extra cash he wouldn't of discounted it for $3, a favor he didn't have to do.
is there a way to link our old achievements/record to the steam version
Hi, no, the game on Steam is another game, it is not an update, so it is not possible.
dang :/ thank you tho!
Bruh just releasing TNMN 2 instead of saying this one is discontinued and you will be continuing it at Steam would've fixed some things
The remake doesn't have enough new things to call it a "sequel"
Plus its not even a sequel either so it wouldn't make sense.
Best of wishes
I am a Chinese player and this game is also very popular in China. Thank you for updating the Chinese version. There is a novelist in China whose fans are always obsessed with the first book he wrote. In order to please their fans and make money, he keeps updating it and eventually earns a lot of money. However, the content updated afterwards is very repetitive and boring. I think earning money and self-expression may be contradictory.
The creator said he just wants to show his games, please don't harass the creator just because they released a remake.
Honestly, the game creator is completely warranted to that money.
If the creator wanted money so bad then why is this game not
available to download at itch.io? Why did the creator put a
discount on the steam game?
unfortunately they falsely advertised twice. they deserve the criticism in this case. it sucks that it isn't entirely their fault, but they still did wrong.
